DRILLER KILLER E2 is a tribute by artist Vanessa Scully to the 1979 video nasty classic 'Driller Killer' directed by Abel Ferrara. Set in London’s coolest postcode - the cast of local artists and gallerists play extensions of themselves, blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction. Reno is not so different to the typical emerging artist residing in E2. He is creatively rich but economically poor trying to make his mark in a competitive, abundant and ever expanding art world. The pressures of urban living , a nagging girlfriend, an unsupportive gallerist and sharehouse living become too overwhelming for a painter looking to get ahead, ‘Nobody said life would be pretty’.
